Despite this he never forgot the Blue half of the city who had worshiped him and the other members of the holy trinity (Harvey and Kendall). He was a true gentleman on and off the pitch in an age when there was no play-acting in football and if you were tackled, you just got up and got on with it.

There are plenty of players in this day and age who can learn a lot from his example and that of the many other players of his generation.

He was always known of course as one of the heroes of the 1966 World Cup win, but even I did not realise that it was him, and not Geoff Hurst, who was voted Man of the Match that July day, all those years ago. We are all Saddened by his sudden passing from a heart attack and I feel lucky that my own attack in Feb did not have the tragic consequences that his did on Tuesday night.

Bally! Maybe I'd better get myself a Motorboat/Zimmer Frame by then 'cause I'll Still be around by then probably (I wonder if they do Scuba Lessons for OAP's)

I See the FA Cup got under way Properly (That is both Merseyside "Giants were Humiliated at home. (At least Arsenal put out a full strength side) Now the old Cry from all Evertonians of "Moyesie's gotta go will ring From Knotty Ash to Kirkby and for once I'm not sure I don't agree with them. Maybe we need someone with more ambition. Any Offers???

Alas! We are also stuck in the midst of a reality nightmare. Celebrity Big Brother! Oh God! The only reason we have these is to make up for the lack of quality programmes in the schedule. And who will win... WHO CARES!!! It might be the bird with the Big Knockers who hung around with Kenny Everett, When he was still alive or the Handsome one from the A-Team. Ken Russell had the right idea when he did a runner from Jaded Goody and Family.

and as for Donnny whoever, well, the less said the better.

Also on the agenda is soapstar Superstar or as it should be called Soapstar Why Sing. You never know we just might give you a change.

For now...

Top Gear... Top Man

What a week it's been folks of world and once again I find myself wondering about the miracles of life the universe and all that stuff.

I don't know how on earth Richard Hammond survived that atrocious accident but he obviously has the Krypton Factor and is on his way to recovery. Get well soon Hamster we need you on Top Gear as soon as possible arguing with Jeremy and James re the cool wall and driving the flash cars and everything.

Which leads me to say this. Yes, what he was doing was dangerous and something went badly wrong. But it was "his choice" and no-one forced him into the car. It amazes me that pressure groups such as Transport 2000 say that programmes like Top Gear are for pertol heads and talk about lads being the primary audience. Have they ever watched and episode and seen how many "girls" are in the studio. Or even how many ladies drive the reasonbly priced car.

This programme has been around for a lot of years and does cover road cars as well as the more powerful production models. It is total entertainment for all who like cars and should be seen as such.

Rant over and now onto the good news. Wow What a Ryder Cup win.

Quite emotional for Darren Clarke in particular but all kudos to the men of team europe for a superb victory.

One last thing... I forgot to mention how sad I was that the Crocodile Hunter was gone from this earth. Steve Irwin was fearless and perhaps this is what led to his sad death a few weeks back. We should remember that this was his life and although we probably thought that he would go at the hands of a crocodile, he still went doing what he loved best.

So Long matey... crike, it seems we hardly got to know you and respects to Teri, Bindi, Bob and all at Australia Zoo. Keep up his work!

All for now... see you soon.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://notquitesupermanalmost.blogspot.com/2006/09/top-gear-top-man.html' title='Top Gear... Isn't it

After a long, long time away from you all, I have returned to you from the outer reaches of the galaxy.

And what a long time is has been...

We wait with baited breath f0r the final fall of Tony B. Liar and the poor schmuck who is to follow him... God help us and all who follow.

Another season has started and I find that my team are doing a little better than last year... a win against the mighty reds left me with a grin from ear to eternity, but I dread the return as we will probably suffer their wrath. One can hope!

It never fails to amaze me that this country can punish the wrong people whilst the guilty walk away and live to offend again and again. eg: Cherie B. Liar (of whom I am no fan) gets a full investigation for playfully snapping the young prankster who made "rabbit ears" on her while taking a photo op, but the usual unnamable monsters who are constantly taking away the innocence of our children are slapped on the wrist and told they will be eligible for parole in 3 to 5. It begggars belief that this is happening far too much these days.

My solution for these "people" was given to me by an acquaintance. Place them in a room with the mothers of the people they've voilated and if the get to the other side, send them into a room full of their fathers. Then if they survive take their genitailia away and maybe then that will stop themfrom doing any more harm to youngsters.

It's saddening that our justice system is so wrong at the moment, as regards this and also that other bone of contention... Vehicular Manslaughter. Yes there are those who may be involved in an accident and take someones life in a manner that is unavoidable. It is, however, time that those who get in a car under the influence of drink or drugs and those who kill and then run for it are brought to book and given more than just a fine, disqualification and/or small sentence.

Let's throw the book at them they ready should be made to see that they can't just take a life at random and then go on as if nothing has happened. Its time for some tough love and if that means 10 years in jail and permanent removal of their licence then so be it.

If my thoughts offend any readers then I completely understand, but think carefully and ask yourself why you are offended.

Thnks for reading and till we meet again

keep flying.

Not the superone (almost) xxx

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://notquitesupermanalmost.blogspot.com/2006/09/small-world-isnt-it.html' title='Small world... The Cricketing world is celebrating the men in white winning the ashes.

If anyone can remember as far back as the mid 1980's and a certain Mr Botham, you'll understand how important it was to get back the small wooden urn which contains 19th century cricket. Thanks to Freddie K.P. and the rest English Cricket can rest easy for a while, although now we have to look to Sky for cricket satisfaction.

We will miss Channel Four and hopefully we can one day return to them for a dose of cricket when the powers that be realise that hardly anyone watches Sky Sports these days

We live in hope

I'm outta here!

Trip the light fantastic

Hi all.

Sorry that I haven't been on line for a while but have been busy saving the world.... Still!

Haven't the last few weeks been a whirlwind since that awful day in July. It's nice to know we're being looked after so well by the best security forces in the world. The raid in London stands out significantly and the sight of the failed bombers stripped naked was certainly something to see. I'm pretty certain that the men from Hereford had something to do with this. Applause all over to all who are looking after our people.

I'm off to the Capital myself on Saturday to See Guys and Dolls with Ewan (Obi Wan) McGregor and am looking forward to the journey. Currently my trip has fallen foul of the attacks and I have to get off the tube at Paddington and take the bus to Russell Square. I will do this with my head held high. I'm not nervous about the journey and will relish every square mile.

I have been watching the plight about poor Kirsty Howard. It's so sad that she is currently on life support I hope she is comfortable and my heart goes out to her parents She has been a marvelous example of courage and fighting spirit and I'm sure that the thoughts of all are with her and her family at this time.

Would somebody please tell me what is the point of Big Brother. Just a bunch of very sad people who want to show themselves off to the world. So sorry, but the only good thing to come out of that very sad idea is Davina McCall. I have a great idea for the next one how's about building the house in the middle of Rockall Hold it in the middle of winter and tell the housemates that in order to win they have to escape and make it back to dry land with no aid (boats planes that sort of thing) I just might make the programme watchable.

Well have to go got a date with boredom

Up, up and (Snore) ZZZZZZ!!!!!!

see ya soon

Sam, pick up tha' musket

Hey everybody I'm back

Its been a strange two weeks since I last put keyboard to motherboard but here we go again.

Life is not an either or. Tell you how much I was looking forward to watching a British landslide at the games and then.....

7/7 happened...

It will forever flumoux me how these ( can one call them people) morons can destroy innocent lives in the name of their god (isn't their god also our god remember Issac and Ishmael) without any respect for their fellow man, they indiscriminately wipe out people who have done nothing but live their lives privately going about their own business.

But at 8.51 am yesterday all that changed and for many life would never be the same.

To these "heroes" (please use this word sarcastically) if you want to blow yourselves up then please do it in your own homes and to your own families. Please leave ours alone... We just want to be left in peace. If they catch you, you may just wish that you were dead!

To the families of those who died and were injured my deepest sympathies. I can understand the anger the United fans feel towards the man who has stolen their company from under there very noses, but you really can't go and blockade the ground. You know that the police will do exactly what they did a couple of nights ago and Glaser and his sons will still own total control of the club.

We need tighter controls on who owns ENGLISH Football Clubs, and people like Glaser and even Mr Abramavich should be told to reduce their stake in the clubs to give the people a chance to be involved. Probably never gonna happen though and Glaser will walk in and systematically change united. Whether for the good or bad we will see.

There are just a few hours left until Live 8 and the question I ponder is -- will the many hours of great music succeed in softening the hearts of the G8 panel, will all world debt be wiped out and what good will that do when we have countries whose leaders still go round destroying those who don't agree with them and what about that new third world country - ENGLAND! As Teflon Tony strives to get us to agree to a European Constitution... Yeah, like that's gonna happen - we probably need more help than some of those countries whose debt will be wiped if Sir Bob and his all-star band have their way.

We wait with Bated Breath.

More soon

Up, Up and (Smack!) But I have yet to find an answer to this question so I guess I have to go on till I find a better solution.

It's been a strange weekend as far as once again we are without a brave warrior at Wimbledon, (maybe we should send the wombles in, they might stand a better chance) There are still several weeks left to a Football Season where the outcome will probably be decided within 90 minutes of the first whistle and we wait with baited breath to see if our Cricket and Rugby Union teams can withstand the onslaught that usually happens when one day internationals or friendlies become TEST MATCHES!!!

On a sadder note, Poor Richard Whitely has now gone to the great countdown game in the sky! Sad that is. now the question that hangs in the air is.... WIll Countdown continue or will it end and send Carol into anonymity and retirement, quicker than you can say "Countdown Cunundrum".

Now we head into a week and a future devoid of 24 (The withdrawl symptons are already starting to hit me (I keep looking at the clock and Wishing something would happen to me, but it doesn't) Jack Bauer and I different worlds... Daft, isn't it....

Just a quick one to those thinking of starting your own blog remember your username. cos you just might find yourself on the outside looking in!

Till next time friends

Up Up and Away

Note: any and all similarities between me and a caped super hero are co-incidental
